Are you feeling intimidated by that sewing machine in your closet you’ve been meaning to fire up? Dust it off and join Leslie Menagh at Madderhouse Textile Studios for some introductory sewing lessons. We’ll start with the basics: how it works, basic stitches and troubleshooting. After that you will learn about how to cut a pattern and put it together. Start building confidence by sewing your own tote bag, and get started on bigger and more exciting plans for the future. Refreshments and endless cheer leading provided.
Materials: Please arrive with thread, bobbins, a set of universal machine needles, and a recently tuned and working machine. Fabrics provided.
$150 +HST / maximum 7 people. Four Wednesday evening. April 8-29, 6-8pm.
Instructor: Leslie Menagh is a lifelong crafts person and wrangler of cloth, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from NSCAD University. She is a workshop facilitator and community-builder with a deep enthusiasm for skill-sharing and creativity.
